05:40 pm - another watch out
After Network World's top 10 listing, Byte and Switch puts 3Leaf in it top 10 storage virtualization companies to watch for!
very cool.
In other news, I am thinking about going to Burning Man next week. Still need a few more co-travelers to reach critical mass.

08:45 pm - Long Day Friday ...
Woke up @ 5 am and took a cab to the airport at 5:30. Got lectured on current real estate scene in the bay area from the cabbie. Finally told him that my company pays for my aptt and it is them who are getting ripped off. He fell for it and didn't ask me to shift again. (For those interested, mt view seems to have the cheapest aptts around)
Reached Orange County at 8:30 and Aliso Viejo at 9:00. Burger-kinged and roamed around till our meeting time. Spent rest of the day looking at firmware analyzers and scratching me head. Finally, things started to make sense by 4 and, mission accomplished, we were out on the road by 5.
Cleared our heads a bit by driving along highway 1 and watching the sunset at Laguna beach.
Landed back in sunnyvale by 9, dined at chat house(sic!) at 10, and topped the day off at AMC watching DON till 2:30 am (No reviews. Seemed like a never ending movie though. There was a good half an hour of it left when I woke up for the fourth and final time).

First one did not come out that well :(
04:00 am - Swades Trip
( First post through Flickr )
As the long weekend approached, the pythagonals again sniffed an opportunity to get another trip in before the big one in September. Having shoppings to do, movies to watch, another appointments to keep and not having any kind of bookings did not stop us from putting up a trip plan (Though the plan was not fully finalized till we were back from the trip, as usual). The plan was itself a first of its kind with a day trip followed immediately by a regular weekend trip.
The Highs and Lows of the trip:
. Trying out a new layout in the car to test out some theories before the Sept trip - with mixed results.
. Doing 150 on the national highway and watching an Elantra cruise ahead.
.Hunting down every nook and corner at the pseudo hill station of Yelagiri in an attempt to secure some acco. And failing miserably.
. The "unexpected surprise" of finding ourselves in a bamboozling forest area while driving down to Salem through a State Highway.
. Being flat-no'ed by another couple of hotels @ Salem.
. Being woken up by a waiter who wanted to make sure we know what efforts and ingredients have gone into making our morning cuppa.
. Listening to the full Swades album, four times (with a Tam version added for extra effect) and catching better half of the movie on the tube.
. Topping the trip on top of Yercaud that offered a great view, great weather, and almost no crowd.
Catch more details with the complete travelogue @ Pythagonals home (- in due time. Our team of experts has just finished giving final touches to the Munnar trip artwork and are going to work on Coorg travelogue next).

04:55 pm - From the Nostalgia deptt ...
( The hidden pic )
When travelling around with friends, monopoly is always the first game of choice(above poker, bluff etc).
I found this pic during one of my nostalgia sessions. This one is from a train journey to(or back from, can't recall) Goa, year 2002, a time when monopoly was at the height of its popoularity in our group.
You can make out how the game's infrastructure does not scale to more than four players. In crisis situations like these, the resourceful engineers try all kind of hacks(did you notice a pen cap and a bottle cap on the board?) and much fun is had.
The immense concentration and tense faces show what planning, strategy and politics goes into being successful at the game of monopoly. The Alliances forged and broken in a couple of rounds can provide enough material for a complete G R R Martin book.
